Imagine This

Polyandry is where a woman has multiple husbands. It is a dying practice found only in small villages of the Himalayas. I recently watched a short video on the National Geographic podcast about it. It featured one woman with three husbands - all brothers! And she had children to raise with them. It seemed to be a nice, comfortable family unit and way of life.

So, can you imagine Harley being married to Alan-Michael, Phillip, and Gus at the same time while still raising her children? Wow, would that be something!

First of all, forget about Daisy (and now Rafe). Imagine she never returned and is still at boarding school. She would cause so much trouble that the situation wouldn't be funny. Her drama would take away from the zanyness of the polyandry.

Second, picture this scenario at Harley's old house, obviously not burned down. The house she currently resides in is her home with Gus. It's strictly GusH. So, since polyandry involves multiple men, it should happen in her previous home where she has gone through a few relationships as well as singlehood. If you don't know the house, search the internet for videos and pictures of Harley. Chances are you'll find the house somewhere; it has an Arizona theme.

Also imagine a much nicer Phillip - the way he was when he and Harley were a couple.

Now let us take a peak into Harley's polyandry lifestyle...

Harley walks into her house after an extra-long day at work. She hangs up her jacket and plops her purse on the coffee table. She smiles at Alan-Michael and sits next to him on the couch.

H: Hi, honey.

Alan-Michael smiles back as he folds up his newspaper. He sets it on the coffee table, leans in close to her, and kisses her.

AM: Hi. How was your day?

H: Long. Too long.

She rests her head on his shoulder, sighing as he wraps an arm around her.

AM: Were you working on a big case?

H: No. The day just really dragged on. I'm glad to be home even though I am home a little late. How was your day at the office?

AM: My meeting went well. We're making more money.

H: That doesn't surprise me. Phillip was a part of it, right?

AM: Yes, of course, Harley. Just because I'm the head of Spaulding does not mean I'm shutting Phillip out of the company.

H: I know. I'm just making sure.

AM: You can stop, okay? Don't worry. I will always include Phillip even though he doesn't care as much about the company as I do.

Harley smiles again and lifts her head up.

H: So, where are my boys?

AM: Rick picked Jude up already.

H: I figured that, since I'm home late.

AM: Rick stayed a little while, but I told him I didn't know when you'd be home. Zach is upstairs with Phillip. And we ate already, by the way.

H: Okay. I'll have to find some dinner for myself. I wonder if Gus is eating at work.

AM: Sorry we didn't save you and Gus anything. We made it a guys night kinda thing with Zach being a man in training. Phillip and I made it fun for him.

H: That's good. Dinner isn't always fun for children.

Phillip comes down the stairs holding Zach over his shoulders.

P: Yes. That's why this dinner was fun, right, Zach?

Z: Yep! Hi, Mommy!

Harley stands up as Phillip makes his way over to her. She smiles as she takes Zach into her arms.

H: Hi, sweetie! Oh, you're getting way too big. I don't think I can hold you anymore.

She gives him a huge hug before setting him down quickly.

H: And you're already in your PJs? That's great.

She kisses his head before he jump onto the couch. She and Phillip grin at him before turning to each other.

H: Hey.

P: Hi, honey.

Harley throws her arms around him, and they share a quick, sweet kiss. He sets his hands on her waist as they share another kiss. He leads her to the other couch, and she sits down on his lap with his arms around her.

H: All I'm gonna say is I'm glad to be home.

P: I'm glad you're home too.

Z: Me too!

P: Hey, champ, why don't you go to the kitchen and have a cookie?

Zach looks at Harley.

Z: Can I?

H: Sure, honey.

Zach hurries away to the kitchen.

P: Today was too long.

H: I agree. And Gus is still working. I guess it's a long day for everyone, huh?

P: Yeah. It's really nice having you home.

He holds her tighter, and she smiles.

H: You do remember that tonight is not your night, right?

P: Yes, I remember that tonight is Gus's night to be with you. That's why I'm holding you right now since Gus isn't home yet.

AM: Yeah, have her while you can, Phillip.

Harley rolls her eyes but doesn't mind being between three guys.

H: You two are something else. And I'm surprised Gus isn't home yet.

P: Let's not even talk about him.

He kisses her cheek, and she laughs. Just then Zach comes rushing back with a cookie in his hand.

Z: I had my cookie. This one is for you, Mommy.

She takes the cookie from him, smiling.

H: Thank you, sweetie.

She watches him run to the stairs.

Z: Uncle Alan-Michael, could you play with me please?

AM: Of course.

Zach bounds up the stairs as Alan-Michael gets up to follow him.

AM: Phillip, don't have too much fun with her.

H: Love you, Alan-Michael.

AM: Love you too, and don't you forget that.

He disappears up the stairs, chasing Zach down the hallway to his room.

H: I think he might be jealous. You're all over me right now.

P: Yes, I am. Tough for him.

H: But I'm sure Gus will be home soon.

Phillip turns her cheek and plants a huge kiss on her lips. She melts just a little before he breaks away.

H: You're sweet.

They both smile. Then they hear a car pulling up.

P: That must be Gus.

H: Phillip, don't sound too disappointed.

Phillip shakes his head.

P: I'm not. Really, I'm not.

H: I love you. You know that.

Phillip smiles.

P: I know. I love you too.

He smiles at her, and she stands up just as Gus walks through the front door.

G: Hey! Give me some love.

He holds one of his arms, and she scurries straight to him. They kiss, and his arm goes around her. He rubs her back a little as they hug.

H: Hi. Long day, huh?

G: You got that right. Have you eaten?

Harley pulls back.

H: No. Have you?

Gus nods his head.
G: No.

They both laugh, and he reveals a bag in his other hand.

G: Dinner.

H: What a lifesaver!

She kisses him, and it's after she pulls away that Gus notices Phillip on the couch.

G: Hey there, Phil. How was your day?

P: It felt as long as yours was.

G: Rough.

P: But your day really was long.

G: God yeah, and I need some relaxing.

He looks at Harley with a lustful twinkle in his eyes.

Harley keeps looking at Gus.

H: Phillip, you can get Zach to bed, right?

Phillip gets up, understanding the hints.

P: Yes, I will. I'll tell him how tired Gus is and that Gus needs Mommy right now. He'll be alright.

Harley turns around, and Gus wraps an arm around her.

H: Yeah, he's growing up so much. He doesn't need me all the time. He'll be fine.

P: Enjoy your night, Harley.

H: Nite, Phillip.

She blows him a kiss as he makes his way up the stairs, leaving her all alone with Gus.

One Emmy Night

This one is what I consider to be my first brilliant, professional-looking wallpaper. This seems way better than my previous wallpapers, and I wasn't experimenting with anything. I just made it to have it and celebrate the Emmy occasion...

For the 2005 Daytime Emmys there was an online award voted on by the fans - the Most Irresistible Combination. There was a couple nominated from each show featuring a video clip to see what made them so irresitible. Every fan could vote all day every day up until the winner was announced. Us GusHers worked hard and voted our buts off. But I had huge doubts that GusH would win; they were up against couples from the popular soap operas. And I didn't even think there would be an actual envelope and award at the ceremony. I thought the winner would just be announced. Boy, was I completely wrong!

Never underestimate the GusH fans because our voting paid off. It was down to three couples, and Gus & Harley were named the Most Irresitible Combination. The song "Simply Irresistible" played as Ricky and Beth went up to accept their special glass award. And they did not expect to win either. They were so stunned that their speech was...quite unique. But it was a proud night for GusHers.

This wallpaper came around after downloading pictures of the wonderful moment. I wanted the four best ones together in a simple wallpaper. I made that purple background design first. It's actually just a sloppy mess from before I knew how the wallpaper should look. But it looks nice behind the pictures. I don't remember how I made that white circle, though, but doesn't it look so cool? And 'Simply Irresistible' had to go in the center of it. Nothing else would have fit; it had to be that phrase.

This marks my first simple yet beautiful wallpaper. It was easy to create. And looking at now always brings me back to that amazing moment.

In Depth Looks

I figured along with providing a link to my wallpapers I'll also write a little about them.

My very first GusH wallpaper is not available at the moment, so I'll share that one at a later date. Till then...there are plenty of wallpapers to enjoy. Some I won't write about for whatever reason, but most will be featured.

Let's start with number one, which is really number two...


I'm not sure when I made this one, but it's still one of my early wallpapers. It's not bad, though.

Ricky and Beth portray Gus and Harley of course, and they tend to kiss at events and appearances. They've never been romantically involved (she's married), but they are best friends. They kiss for the fans, and sometimes fans request them to kiss. They don't seem to mind; they probably enjoy it. Sometimes they kiss more than once, and their characters kiss all the time.

And since there have been several kisses over the years, I wanted them in one place. Thus, I created this wallpaper.

The pictures here aren't my personal photos; I've never met or seen Ricky and Beth. Luckily other people have, or at least have had photo opportunities. These pictures are from five different occasions: two personal appearances, two Daytime Emmy ceremonies, and one fan club luncheon. They started sharing kisses backstage at the Emmys all on their own for some reason, maybe to please the fans. The Guiding Light luncheon occurs annually, and their tables have always been together. The one thing to look forward to, whether attending or not, is them kissing.

Why is Ricky and Beth kissing so good? Because they have just as much chemistry off-screen as they do on-screen in character.

The phrase in the upper corner comes from a Whitney Houston/Enrigue Iglesias duet - "Could I Have This Kiss Forever". The song probably doesn't fit Ricky and Beth, but it seemed like a good inspiration. So, I came up with my little phrase; it's charming.

Now, I will tell you my favorite of all those kisses...the one in the upper center of the wallpaper - his hand on her face, and her hand touching his. There's just something so sweet and innocent about that one.

One Hobby

GusH is my fulltime hobby. I think about them all the time. They are the inspiration for and the source of my creativity. Without them my life and hobbies would be too simple. Not many ideas would come to me.

One hobby of mine is creating wallpapers for computer desktops. Nearly two years ago I discovered how good I am at creating them, and I've made numerous GusH ones. They're not always easy; it takes time and patience to make one. But it's fun, and I enjoy making them for fellow fans.

My Love For Gus & Harley

I say up above, “See what life is like,” but I haven’t truly shared “my life” of loving GusH. In this entry I would like to share with you my journey with Gus and Harley. Starting at the beginning…

My mom has raised me on the ABC soap operas. She has watched All My Children for years, and she left the TV on for the other shows. So it was only natural that I start to enjoy those shows. I think I’ve been watching all three off and on since 1996. I have early memories of AMC characters from ’96 and ’97 and some early memories of OLTL. I began watching AMC and OLTL in the spring of 1997. From there I was hooked the rest of my life. I got into GH full time in the summer of 1999. Some stories will lead me away from them, and others lead me back to it. But for better or worse I’ll always have an interest in them.

Guiding Light came into the picture because of my grandmom (Dad’s mom). She grew up with the CBS shows, and she remembers listening to GL on the radio. I’ve spent many days and nights at my grandparents’ house, where I’ve been exposed to all four CBS shows. I guess GL stood out more than the others. A couple years later I did get into ATWT; I’ve watched that off and on. Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful are okay; I know who’s who. But I have memories of GL…

I liked Beth, and I remember her being on the run with little Lizzie, hiding from her abusive boyfriend. I always knew Reva was the big diva star of the show. I remember the second time she returned from the dead and her clone story, which I liked. But Harley stood out a lot; I like her from the very beginning. She was cool; I liked her tough-looking face and strong voice. She seemed very independent; she could take on anyone who messed with her. And that’s very true; don’t mess with her. She’s a feisty little thing. And she’s special to me; I’ve always loved her. Always.

I guess those memories are from ’98? ’99? Maybe some Harley stuff is from 2000. I’m not sure, but I didn’t start watching on my own until early 2001 - still on and off because of it being on at the same time as GH. So, I saw what I could, I guess. Don’t ask me everything I saw/remember because from 2001 onward I’ve seen A LOT! Now the focus will be on Harley and Gus…

I loved Phillip and Harley! They were so cute, sweet, and romantic. And I got into the show at the end of their romantic relationship. How terrible! Keep in mind that was before I knew how bad the Spauldings are. So I thought Phillip and Harley was a supercouple; they seemed like a forever kind of couple. But that wasn’t the case. I didn’t see their break-up/divorce, so I didn’t cry or anything. I just thought they’d reunite somewhere down the road. That wasn’t the case either. I remember reading in the Late Breaking News section of Soap Opera Digest that GL was bringing on a new love interest for Harley – Gus Aitoro. I was not happy at all. So I didn’t want Harley with some new guy or any guy other than Phillip. I didn’t like Gus for a couple of months; he made that easy by being an arrogant revenge junkie.

So I just stuck by Harley. Luckily her relationship with her new love interest was slowed because of her real-life pregnancy, which was written onto the show. I kinda liked her with Rick; they were sweet. And I’ll never forget the Bauer BBQ when Phillip finally found out she was having a child with his best friend. Major moment! When the real-life maternity leave came about, I didn’t watch the show again until she returned. That’s when only Harley was important, but since then, I’ve gained more favorites. And even though I didn’t want Harley with Gus, I did enjoy their bickering. It was hilarious! But I didn’t see any romantic chemistry; I was totally blind.

I kinda remember Harley giving birth to Jude in a jail cell; Gus delivered him. It was something. And I remember Harley and Rick naming him… Gus helped by asking for Harley’s favorite song – “Hey Jude” by The Beatles. That was nice. Around that time (later months of 2001) I realized that Harley and Phillip were finished. The show wasn’t going back to them. And little by little I think I saw the chemistry between Gus and Harley. I don’t remember if I saw their first kiss, but I think I saw their second kiss – in a bedroom at the Bauer’s and Rick caught them. That’s when Harley ended things with Rick, and I think I was happy about that. There was only a friendship between them, no romantic or sexual chemistry. But I saw the booming hot chemistry between Gus and Harley. The end of 2001 must be when I began liking them, but I still wasn’t seeing the show every day.

2002 was a big year for them. GL went reasonably slow with them, which was good because it took a while for me to see love between them. I thought their chemistry was just sexual. I didn’t get to see every romantic moment, but I liked what I saw. I saw them at the Bauer cabin playing in the snow, and Gus gave her a meaningful flower. I saw some steamy kissing outside of Company and at the church gym. I remember their first official date with the exploding lasagna. I saw their whole wacky trip to Pennsylvania. They were stranded, almost made love, and spent the night in jail. I loved every second of it! I remember being so angry at missing their “first time”; a couple on GH was steaming things up too. I couldn’t see both, unfortunately. I remember them living together and then not living together. I don’t think I saw when they first said ‘I love you’, but I still didn’t believe love existed anyway. And I remember numerous other stories and times from the year. Hard to list everything else.

I still just liked them in 2003, and I followed them the best I could. I think I watched more GL than GH that year. GusH’s stories were pretty big. I enjoyed their mission to find Gus’s real parents even though there was a lack of love/romance between them. I saw everything when Harley was shot. I remember a commercial for them being involved in a domestic problem, and it was something I couldn’t miss. I was worried for my Harley, and everything at the hospital was intense. But luckily, she chose her family and woke up. What I didn’t see (which sucks) is the Insatiable Wallbanger love scene. If you’re a GusHer, you know exactly what that is. The best moment is when they got engaged; it was at home and unexpected. I cried, and I think from that day on I tried watching GL when I could.

2003 was also when GL began airing at 10 am in the New York areas. I’m in PA, so that applied to me. When that happened, I started watching GL every day. It could have occurred in June or July. July is when I finally found a site just for GusH; I had searched a couple times before then. It was the only GusH site, and it still is (pretty much). The site is actually a discussion board; the link is found above under Sweet Deals. Today it’s the official fan site of GusH and their portrayers (Ricky Paull Goldin and Beth Ehlers). I found my home when I found that board, and I made friends. It’s a great place for GusHers. I think through that board I finally saw how much love Gus and Harley have for each other because there were all kinds of pictures and video clips to see.

2003 was when I began LOVING GusH with all my heart! They were and are the BEST couple of GL and daytime. I’ve fallen for them, and through the rest of 2003 and onward I’ve embraced their past and gotten to know them so well. I’ve seen those episodes/scenes that I missed from ’02 and ’01. I’ve seen how deep their love is, and I’ve seen how they’ve saved each other. I’ve gotten to know their portrayers; I’ve seen how talented they are. I’ve gotten attached to them, and I cry and laugh with them all the time.

2004 was the most heartbreaking year; their non-wedding left me so depressed. I was numb and cold like Harley. It was terrible. But the Thanksgiving dance and the Christmas kiss gave hope back to the fans because GusH is one of those that will always stay connected. Gus and Harley will always end up back together if they are somehow apart.

I believe there are two years that are GusH’s best. 2002 is one because that contained most of their firsts as a couple; it’s when they their romantic relationship really started. And there were plenty of wonderful, sexy scenes. 2005 is the second year because their love was just so strong throughout everything they endured. Harley’s trial was the best storyline ever because they had GusH build back their relationship. They didn’t get back together right away; it was kinda a push and stay thing. Harley would push Gus away one moment and in the next they were together in a hot lip-lock. I’m glad that GL went slow with the trial and GusH reuniting. Also, I noticed how intense and on their eye contact is; they really do not need words to express how they feel. And throughout the entire storyline the actors shined so brightly like never before; I saw just how truly talented they are; they deserved Emmys for that story. 2005 also showcased GusH on the run. It didn’t last too long, but I loved it! There was fun, danger, and true love combined to create quite an adventure. And that’s when GusH finally for certain got back together. They made love for the first time in months, and it was special and well worth the wait. The time it happened was appropriate. AND 2005 is when they were finally married! It was the BEST wedding EVER!

2006 was a rollercoaster year, but I hung in there with them. I always will. And now Guiding Light is celebrating 70 years in broadcasting; it’s amazing that such a wonderful couple is a part of that show and those 70 years. I’m proud to be a GusHer.

So I'm looking through transcripts and writing down important GusH dates to remember and I get a crazy, cool idea. Why not create a huge list of all their terrific lines?
This'll be a work-in-progress because it'll take a long time for it to be completely finished, but today, August 9th, will mark the beginning. And I'll break this up into years, starting with 2001 when Gus joined the show.

Gus: Wait a second. Excuse me, it's my life, too.
Harley: Really?
Gus: Yeah.
Harley: What were you hoping to accomplish, okay? I can't imagine what was going on in your head. What were you after?
Gus: You. Just you.

Gus: You know, there was a time... We were down in our offices down at the police station once, in our cruddy little offices and this one day, you took a look down at your desk. I don't know if you were working on a case file or eating a sandwich, I don't know what it was, but it was the way that you just kind of tilted your head that day. And I just can't shake it. I mean, it kind of ran right through me. To this day, I just can't shake it.

Gus: No, it's just A... Encouragement. It's not so much that I lied; that would have been okay. It's that I lied to you, right? And... And I'm touched. I just... It gives me hope for the two of us.

1-Year Anniversary!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, GUS & HARLEY!!!

Can you believe that one year ago TODAY they got married? Wow! And it was the best wedding I've ever seen! I wish I could see GusH celebrate, but at least I've gotten what I wanted: they're together and happy on their anniversary. And they've stayed married all this time! It's a great day for a celebration!


A toast for them: To continue to be happy...for a little while anyway And during their second year of marriage I want them to finally have a baby girl. I'm ready!
